Season 2: Polar Storm - The Definitive Guide

5 min read

Winter is coming, commanders. And it brings more than just a chill.

Season 2, known as Polar Storm (or “Frozen World”), completely overhauls the map mechanics of Last War: Survival Game. You are no longer just fighting zombies; you are fighting the elements themselves. The heat is gone, the map is freezing, and Emperor Boreas is waiting in the center.

This guide will break down everything you need to know to survive, thrive, and dominate the leaderboards.

1. The Core Mechanic: Freeze or Die

The most critical change in Season 2 is Temperature.

The map is now a gradient of cold.

  • Edges (Spawn): -15°C
  • Intermediate Zones: -30°C to -60°C
  • The Capitol (Center): -80°C

The “Deep Freeze”

If your base temperature drops below -20°C, a 5-minute “Freezing Soon” timer starts.

  • If it hits zero: You are FROZEN.
  • Frozen Penalties:
    • 🚫 Cannot Teleport (except random/alliance).
    • 🚫 Cannot Rally.
    • 📉 Production takes a massive hit.
    • 🥶 Significant debuffs to troops.

To thaw, you must raise your temperature above -20°C for 5 minutes. Your allies can help by sending squads to “break the ice” (costing them stamina), but you don’t want to be that burden.

2. New Resources & Buildings

To survive the cold, you need heat. To get heat, you need Coal.

🧱 New Resources

  • Coal: The fuel of Season 2. Used to power your furnace and upgrade buildings. DO NOT WASTE THIS.
  • Titanium Alloy: Used for upgrading the High-Heat Furnace and seasonal military buildings.
  • Rare Soil: The new Alliance Ranking metric. The alliance with the most Rare Soil at the end of the season wins.

🏭 Key Buildings

1. High-Heat Furnace (Personal)

  • The Most Important Building.
  • Function: Generates heat for your base and increases Virus Resistance.
  • Modes:
    • Off: Saves Coal.
    • On: Burns Coal, provides heat.
    • Overdrive: Burns 2x Coal, provides maximum heat.
  • Auto-On: Can be set to automatically turn on during Blizzards.

2. Titanium Alloy Factory

  • Function: Produces Titanium Alloy.
  • Max Count: 4 (Free) + 1 (Weekly Pass).
  • Upgrade Logic: CRITICAL SPEEDRUN TACTIC BELOW.

3. Alliance Furnace

  • Function: Built by R4/R5. Creates a “heat zone” on the map.
  • Strategy: Your alliance must cluster around this to survive in deep zones without burning all your personal Coal.

3. Speedrun Strategy: The “Rush 15” & “Rush 30”

This is where the pros separate from the casuals. Do not upgrade everything evenly.

⚡ The “Rush 15” Factory Strat

To unlock the next Titanium Alloy Factory, your previous one must be Level 15.

  • Wrong Way: Level Factory 1 to Lvl 5, then stop.
  • Right Way: Rush Factory 1 -> Lvl 15 immediately. This unlocks Factory 2. Then rush Factory 2 -> Lvl 15.
  • Why? Having 4 factories running is 4x the production. Unlocking them ASAP is the priority.

🔥 The “Rush 30” Furnace Strat

Your primary goal for the first 3 weeks is getting your High-Heat Furnace to Level 30.

  • Unlocks:
    • Violet UR Upgrade (Massive power spike).
    • Seasonal Military Buildings (Tank Fortress, etc.).
    • Max Virus Resistance (Needed for high-level Doom Elites).

4. Heroes & Meta

💜 Violet: The F2P Queen

At Furnace Level 30, you can upgrade Violet from SSR (Orange) to UR (Red).

  • Requirements: 5-Star Violet + Legendary Hero Badge.
  • Result: She becomes a 3-Star UR with refunded skill points and shards. She is essential for F2P and low spenders in Season 2.

⚔️ Exclusive Weapons

Season 2 introduces Exclusive Weapons for specific heroes, obtainable via Battle Passes.

  • Week 1: Murphy (Tank)
  • Week 3: Carlie (Aircraft)
  • Week 6: Swift (Missile)
  • Note: You must buy the pass or earn the specific shards to activate the weapon. Universal shards can only be used to upgrade it after activation.

5. Events: War & Weather

❄️ Blizzards

Scheduled weather events that drop the global temperature drastically.

  • Weeks 1-2: -30°C drop.
  • Weeks 4+: -70°C drop.
  • Survival: Ensure you have 4+ hours of Coal in reserve. Turn your Furnace to Overdrive BEFORE the blizzard hits.

⚔️ Rare Soil War (PvP)

Starting Week 4, alliances are split into two factions: Rebels vs Gendarmerie.

  • Objective: Destroy enemy Alliance Furnaces to steal their Rare Soil.
  • Strategy: This is a capture-the-flag style mode. Defend your furnace at all costs, and coordinate mass rallies on enemy furnaces.

6. The Shop: What to Buy?

If you are spending money, prioritize these:

  1. Weekly Pass: The single best value.
    • Unlocks the 5th Titanium Alloy Factory.
    • Gives +250 Virus Resistance.
    • Recommendation: Buy this every week if you can.
  2. Season Battle Pass (48 Days):
    • The best source of Coal. Without this, you will struggle to keep your furnace running in the late game.
  3. Exclusive Weapon Passes:
    • Must-buy if you main Murphy, Carlie, or Swift.

7. Summary Checklist

  1. Check Temp: Always watch the thermometer. -20°C is the danger zone.
  2. Rush Factories: Get them to Level 15 one by one.
  3. Hoard Coal: Never let your reserves hit zero. Turn off your furnace when you don’t need it.
  4. Cluster Up: Stay near your Alliance Furnace.
  5. Upgrade Violet: Aim for Furnace Lvl 30 by Week 3.

Good luck, Commander. Stay warm.
